Converse International’s social responsibility starts with our employees. Converse is an equal opportunity employer and strives to provide the safest, most motivating environment where we foster advancement and mobility. This helps us achieve a foundation to deliver superior services.
Our commitment extends beyond employees to the communities where we operate. We feel that we are a part of a community and embrace our responsibility to give back to the people in our neighborhood.
Almost all language schools offer organized leisure and cultural activities for their international students: museum visits, walking tours, beach visits, weekend getaways, concerts, local sporting events, etc. These activities contribute to cross cultural understanding and sensitivity, and are wonderful opportunities for students to practice their language and have some fun.
At Converse, we have an entire activities program aimed to help our students experience their city like a local would. However, we also encourage our students to make a real difference while they are here with us. That is why we organize “direct impact” activities – activities that make a measurable difference in the community, like park maintenance, serving food at homeless shelters, working with children, and environmental clean-ups.
While our volunteer activities are not mandatory for any student, we do strongly encourage them to get involved. It is a wonderful way to explore other social, cultural, economic, and environmental realities in our country and make a difference during their stay in the United States.
