English Plus Surfing

CISL has partnered with Pacific Beach Surf School to develop an ESL + Surfing curriculum specifically designed for international students. It is our goal to make learning English fun and exciting by adding the extra special component of surfing! Visual aids are written in English to help international students learn both visually and verbally. Surf classes are small, groups of 5 students or less, so each student has the opportunity to ask questions and receive individual attention.

Curriculum

The lesson starts on the sand with a brief lecture to ensure success and safety in the water. First, we educate students on surf safety, environmental awareness, waves, and currents. Then, each student learns to paddle and "pop-up" properly on the sand making it easy to stand and surf once in the water. Now its time to surf! While in the eater each group will be supervised and aided by a certified instructor.
